Canyoning in the Alcantara Gorge: Introduce the younger members of the family (minimum age: 8) to the thrills of canyoning in the Alcantara Gorge. This involves travelling through a dry section of the Alcantara river bed, past rock pools and through a landscape of dense vegetation and volcanic rock, via a series of easy climbs. Participants are provided with a helmet and harness and given a short briefing on descent techniques. Prices from €50pp.

Body rafting and river trekking along the Alcantara River: Raft, swim and wade your way for 2.5km, with the odd rock scramble, on a body rafting expedition on the spectacular Alcantara River. Minimum age is 12 (with parental consent) and minimum height 1.4m. Prices from €38pp.
As an alternative, river trekking is the perfect way to cool down in the heat of the summer. Jump, climb and swim your way through the ice cold waters of the Alcantara Gorge, travelling 600m upstream. Prices from €65 per person (minimum age 13).

Jeep tour on Mount Etna: Explore recent and ancient lava flows, visit lava caves and get up close to extinct craters on a jeep tour of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest volcano.
