Bordered by traditional stone walls, the villa looks out over large olive and citrus tree dotted lawns, offering freedom for the kids to run around and play. At the heart of the garden is the beautifully landscaped pool area, set amidst terraces furnished with sun beds and umbrellas. An outdoor dining area, accessed directly from the kitchen, has views across the garden to the rural landscape beyond.
The villa has 4 double bedrooms spread across the main restored farmhouse and an adjacent guest house, but with 4 extra beds and ample living space, can easily accommodate groups of 12. The main house is simply but elegantly furnished with polished terracotta flooring and modern bathrooms, and large windows that let in masses of light. On the ground floor, the roomy kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a dining table for 8. Two separate living rooms, both leading out to the terrace, provide that extra layer of convenience and comfort for larger groups.
The 3 bedrooms in the main house all have their own bathroom, all with showers. These include 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor, and a third, a suite (with double bed and double sofa bed), on the first floor. The main house also has a guest toilet and a utility room on the ground floor.
The guest house, with capacity for up to 4 people, allows that extra element of separation for couples or small families seeking some independence. Step from the small furnished terrace into a well-equipped open plan kitchen/living room with a small dining table and single sofa bed. The bathroom (with shower) is on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to a mezzanine level with a double and single bed.

The area
When you manage to tear yourself away from the gorgeous pool, you’ll find yourself in prime position for exploring the remarkable southeastern corner of Sicily. Much has been written about this area, and for good reason.
Firstly, the beaches along this stretch of sandy coastline are amongst the best on the island. Nearby Santa Maria del Focallo (17km) is excellent for families, but there are also plenty of beaches to choose from at nearby Pozzallo and Sampieri, many with lido style facilities. When you feel like venturing a little further afield, head west to Punta Secca and Donnalucata or east to Portopalo di Capo Passero at the most southeasterly tip of the island.
You’ll find several supermarkets within easy reach of the villa, but the nearest towns are Modica and Scicli, around 20 minutes’ away by car and both offering a good selection of restaurants and bars. Modica is a stunning town, with wonderful examples of the baroque style for which the region is famed. The baroque towns of Ragusa Ibla, Scicli and Noto are also close by while Palazzolo Acreide, the least visited of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage towns, is a little further at 50km.
Ispica, just 10km from the baglio, offers another step back in time. The town is home to many baroque churches and palazzi but is best known for the Cava Ispica, a 13-km long canyon dotted with former cave dwellings and burial sites.
