Another Sicilian Wonder? The Beautiful Weather!

Sicily is widely popular for being one of the top holiday spots in the Mediterranean. This is also due to the wonderful weather it enjoys during the major part of the year, which make it possible for tourists to swim in the crystal waters blue waters of the coastlines and of its wide variety of splendid beaches well through the months of October and November- when many beaches are still open and lifeguards are also still on duty. High temperatures in Sicily reach a yearly average of 20° C overall. This is not bad considering that it is the largest island in the Mediterranean- but this is also because it has the benefit of carrying the warm winds that come from North Africa. From May to August Sicily averages circa 14 hours of daylight and 9.5 hrs for the month of December. So this means that you can expect plenty of daily sunshine hours coupled with beautiful sunsets pretty much all year round.

Take as an example the South Eastern part of the island by the lovely town of Syracuse (of ancient Greek origin and the native city of the famous inventor Archimedes). Weather Syracuse Sicily forecasts ensure sunny days and average temperatures of 15° C even in January and February. For the weather Siracusa Sicily is a prime location to enjoy year round friendly temperatures.
Weather Catania Sicily Italy month-to-month forecasts shows that the Eastern Coast can also boast high temperatures comparable to Syracuse but gets even hotter in the months of June, July and August. This makes Catania a hot-spot for tourists (in more ways than one) and a principal attraction, being located at the foot of Mt. Etna and comprising a wonderful coastline, with its proximity to Taormina and its Giardini Naxos and Isola Bella Bay coupled with the surrounding beaches, it become a choice location for visitors landing at the Catania Fontanarossa Airport (the main central airport together with Palermo’s Punta Raisi airport)- not forgetting all the wonderful ancient Greek and Roman, Norman and Arabic architecture and artistic masterpieces present in Catania itself.

Weather Ragusa Sicily Italy also shows some great temperature averages starting at 16° and going up to 32°. Ragusa is located South by the Val di Noto, along with the towns of Scicli, Modica and Noto- and it comprises a wonderful mountainous landscape dotted with Baroque medieval villages that are a wonder to behold for any historian of the medieval past eager to explore also the rich cross-cultural legacy inherited by the region over the millennia.

Weather Enna Sicily: Step back into the ancient past in this spectacular and scenic inland town high in the hills of Sicily, engulfed in the allure of Greek mythology, and home to many Greco-Roman ruins, Medieval castles, and North African, Spanish and Arabic monuments that stand the test of time. The spread of the Baroque style influence is also evident in the region, where you can also enjoy hiking and trekking among a great variety of ponds, lakes and nature reserves with the best temperatures all year-round and without worrying about being too hot or too cold.
The weather in Castellammare del Golfo in North West Sicily (located within reaching distance of the Egadi Islands by the coast, and near some of the top beaches in Sicily like San Vito lo Capo, the rustic fishing village of Scopello, and one of the most unique landscapes provided by the exotic UNESCO protected world heritage site of the ‘Zingaro Nature Reserve’) has more bearable and moderate temperatures than in the other locations examined above. Weather Scopello Sicily forecasts show the same moderate weather.

The Eastern part of the Island is where Taormina (one of the top attractions in the Island and a main stop for many holiday-goers due to its proximity to the Catania and the main airport, FontanaRossa) is located. Along with its Isola Bella Bay, another of Taormina’s treasures includes one of the most popular beaches in the whole of Sicily: Giardini Naxos. Weather Taormina Sicily Italy month-to-month forecasts indicate slightly more moderate temperatures compared to Catania. The weather in Giardini Naxos Sicily also reflects the same temperature averages as Taormina to ensure a comfortable holiday where you can enjoy sunbathing and swimming well through the months of May to October.

Weather Vulcano Sicily: this is where you can relax in the steaming mud baths popular among men and women since the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans- and also experience swimming and sunbathing in the volcanic black sandy beach of this Aeolian island which has an active volcano providing a scenic display of lava flows and fireworks.
