Description
With a pool, table tennis and play area for toddlers, Casa Franchina is perfect for a family. Best of all, you can walk to the beach and to the shops and restaurants in Acquedolci or easily access the motorway which stretches the length of Sicily’s north coast if you want to explore further.
The highlight of the villa for most families is the lovely pool, with its graduated steps at one end. A lawned area beside the pool has table tennis and plenty of space for the children to play, overlooked by a pergola-shaded terrace with a sea-facing dining area, a swing chair and additional seating. Make the most of the Sicilian weather by cooking in the outdoor tiled kitchen corner (equipped with cupboard space, a sink and hob). At the side of the villa, a second lawn has a small play area with two swings for young children.
Inside, the villa is traditionally furnished, with polished terracotta flooring and antique furniture. The ground floor comprises a spacious lounge, dining room and fully-equipped kitchen. The washing machine is in the downstairs bathroom (with shower). There are four bedrooms on the first floor which is accessible either via an internal or external staircase. On this floor, there are two doubles, one with an en suite bathroom (with jacuzzi), a twin room and a single, and one other bathroom.

The area
Situated on the north coast of Sicily, between Cefalù and Capo d’Orlando, the villa is at walking distance to the shops and restaurants at Acquedolci, and the beach.
Close by, the Nebrodi Mountains provide some of Sicily’s most spectacular landscapes, popular with hikers and foodies (salami, cheese) but also very appealing if you enjoy exploring out-of-the-way villages. San Marco d’Alunzio and San Fratello are well worth visiting – San Fratello has a pretty 11th century Norman church, with cloisters.
Other local towns include Santo Stefano di Camastra, renowned for its colourful ceramics, and Tindari, the site of a former Greek-Roman settlement and the Santuario di Tindari, built to house the much-revered Black Madonna. To the west of Acquedolci, the seaside resort of Cefalù offers an appealing mix of sandy beaches, a UNESCO world heritage site (Norman cathedral) and an attractive historic centre.
For a full day out, boat trips and snorkelling excursions depart from nearby Milazzo to the volcanic Aeolian Islands.

12-08-2020 -Pippo and Cristina were wonderful hosts--thoughtful, helpful and full of positive energy. We enjoyed our stay, especially the outdoor space at Casa Franchina very much. The pool, outdoor living space and outdoor kitchen were where we spent 90% of our stay. Pippo arranged meals out for us, showed us around Acquedolci and made our stay top notch. Highly recommend the lovely home and very local town. Perfect and low-key in this time of Covid.

29-10-2019 -When we arrived late at night after a long journey we appreciated finding a lovely welcoming pack, water, beer, fresh fruit and supplies for breakfast. Our flight was delayed so we were late arriving but Pippo was still around to meet us and get us settled in and he even picked up a Pizza for us that night. Pippo and his family were super friendly and took great care showing us everything at the villa in meticulous detail. He also stressed that we could contact him anytime with questions or requests. The villa is excellent with everything required inside and out. A fantastic few days away from the Autumnal UK making the most of the lovely late summer weather. The pool was refreshing and the sea lovely for a dip. All in all a lovely stay.

01-10-2019 -We have just spent an amazing week in Casa Franchina. Pippo, Christina & family met us on arrival and explained how everything worked – they were so generous and thoughtful and even presented us with a welcome pack including essentials and even a bottle of prosecco. The villa itself is gorgeous and has everything a family could need for a relaxing break. It is close to the local village (with a nice selection of restaurants, bakeries, bars and shops) and nearby beach and is within driving distance of lots of tourist sites. We spent glorious afternoons and evenings lounging around the fabulous pool while gazing across the sea at the Aeolian islands – you even have access to your own private citrus grove.
