The single storey villa is ideal for families with young children looking for easy access to the beach, with the soft golden sands of Playa Grande beach just 100m away along a narrow road. The free beach is one of a selection of local beaches that include several fully equipped beach clubs where you can hire sun beds and umbrellas.
The villa overlooks an attractive garden with a pool, lawn and terraces. The focal point is the pool (9 x 4m, with a depth of between 1.2-1.8m), overlooked by a sun terrace with sun loungers. There’s space for the children to play, an outside shower and private parking for 2 cars.
But perhaps the highlight is the two fully furnished shady terraces where you can take advantage of Sicily’s warm summer evenings and linger over leisurely al fresco dinners or relax back on the sofa with an aperitif as the sun goes down. Terrace amenities include a barbecue and sink area.
Inside the villa, a pleasantly furnished living room features a sofa, armchair, large TV and dining table with chairs. The kitchen, with a small table for 4, is well equipped with everything you need from a fridge freezer to dishwasher. There are 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and one single) in the main villa, and 2 bathrooms (one with shower, one with bath). A separate air conditioned dependence, with its own entrance, has a single bedroom and en suite bathroom.

The area
The beaches in south east Sicily are known to be some of the best on the island, featuring powder soft sand and sparkling clear water, and those around Plaia Grande are no exception. Pop down to the free beach for a morning dip or enjoy the convenience of the string of fully equipped lidos that stretch along the coastline, all the way from the small village of Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa to, heading east, Marina di Modica and Santa Maria del Focallo.
If you’re a fan of the fictional detective Montalbano, be sure to visit his seafront home on the beach at Punta Secca. Other locations that feature in the series include the Castello di Donnafugata and, of course, the charming local town of Scicli where the town hall was used as the police station in the TV series. Scenes were also filmed in nearby Ragusa Ibla, a must for any visitor to south east Sicily.
Other towns worthy of note in the area include Modica - renowned equally for its superb baroque architecture and its long-standing tradition of chocolate production – and a little further afield, Noto and Palazzolo Acreide.
