We were delighted to once again see ourselves featured in the pages of the Times travel supplement, this time by way of a recommendation by the Times Travel Doctor to a larger group looking for a villa in Sicily with a pool. Situated on the outskirts of Trecastagni, on the slopes of Mount Etna, Villa Rosa Antica is a great option for a group of friends seeking plenty of living space and several en suite bedrooms – the villa actually has room for up to 13 people, with seven bedrooms and bathrooms. The gardens at Rosa Antica are equally spacious,…

hero and lander - blog wish sicily

Thanks to Hero & Leander, the online magazine crammed with inspirational travel and lifestyle tips for couples, for including Modica in its recent post on some of Europe’s most eye-catching picture perfect towns. With its grand baroque architecture, old medieval quarter and web of narrow lanes and stairways, the town is definitely one to be added to your must-see list if you’re visiting south east Sicily. Down in Modica Bassa, the more modern lower part of town, cafés and chocolate shops line the main Corso Umberto; while in Modica Alta, the highlight is the flamboyant Duomo di San Giorgio, with…

NEW Travel Mag Masthead black

More column inches devoted this month to Wish Sicily – this time in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine’s Total Guide to Italy (September 2016). Pore over pages of ideas and inside information into the best that Italy has to offer in its cities, in Tuscany, Sardinia, Puglia, Campania and, of course, Sicily. One tip from the magazine is to get live-like-a-local value in Sicily by picking a villa away from the coast. Villa Arte Mare Blue is an art-filled quirky but contemporary villa set in the hills above Cefalù. Animal sculpture and free-standing statues fill the traditional mature gardens which…

We were thrilled to see our new range of villa holidays with outdoor activities included in the Independent’s Family Holiday Guide this weekend!  While most people will know about our great beaches, not everyone is aware of the ever-expanding choice of adventure activities on Sicily, many of which are suitable for all the family. The Alcantara Gorge, near Taormina, is a particular hotspot, with body rafting, river trekking and canyoning all available, while the Madonie mountains are a great place for hiking. For families looking for a slightly different way to explore Mount Etna, a jeep tour is guaranteed to…

The Times Wish Sicily

A holiday in Sicily, and several of our villas, was one of the recommendations made by the Times’ Travel Doctor (April 30th, 2016) in response to a request for suggestions for a big celebration holiday in 2017. With the option of visits to the baroque towns of Noto, Ragusa and Scicli, and a great choice of sandy beaches, a villa holiday in south east Sicily was put forward as the perfect solution for a three-generation group in search of beach, culture and activities. Sunny House and Prora del Plemmirio, both with four bedrooms and a pool, are a short drive…

Anyone who has planned a family holiday will know that keeping everyone happy is not always that easy.  Mealtimes, travel distances and the different needs and interests of each child all need to be taken into account and older children may well want to try their hand at something with a touch of adventure. If your children are still young, our advice is to keep life simple – choose a villa with a pool, mix up some fun activities with chill time on the beach and make sure that any cultural visit is balanced by a very large gelato! Eating…

Visit Noto in May and enjoy the spectacle of the L’Infiorata di Noto, one of south east Sicily’s loveliest festivals, when the street of Corrado Nicolaci is transformed into a floral carpet. Elsewhere, there are baroque palazzi to visit and, close by, plenty of sandy beaches. Read more about the festival, and local villas such as Villa Gioi (former La Finestra su Noto), in the Sunday Express of  March 20th 2016.

Step outside into a fabulous garden with terraces galore, a pool, outdoor kitchen and heavenly poolside bar and dining space. There’s still space throughout the summer but don’t hang around – this one’s going to go fast!

villa-lo-scoglio-sicily

How great to see Villa Lo Scoglio included in travel journalist, Adam H Graham’s top 10 list of places he stayed in last year!  Better still, of the 80 properties he visited, Sicily Lo Scoglio in Sicily is the only rental property to hit the dizzy heights. Not that we’re altogether surprised.  The architect-designed villa occupies an extraordinary position on a promontory in south east Sicily, with 270° sea views and a grand total of seven different verandas and terraces for soaking up the sun. Stroll down through the gardens to the near-deserted sunbathing platform on the water’s edge and…

“Wish Sicily non è solo lo strumento ideale per generare affitti diretti tra il turista ed il proprietario, ma rappresenta un mezzo di promozione territoriale secondo a nessuno, il quale interpreta la destinazione turistica, nella fattispecie la Sicilia, come elemento fondamentale nella scelta dell’immobile da parte dell’utente finale”.
