Casa Ciaceri This property has been verified by our local team in Sicily Villas in Sicily in Modica

Description

Perfectly-placed for exploring the baroque towns of south east Sicily, and just half an hour or so to the beach, Casa Ciaceri is a great holiday home for a family or group of friends. The baroque towns of Ragusa, Modica and Noto are all within easy reach of the villa.

The villa overlooks a good-sized garden, with lawns dotted with olive and palm trees and typical dry stone walls with views over the surrounding countryside. Within the garden, there is a heated Jacuzzi and close by, a covered dining area. A separate area features a built-in barbecue, sink and wood-burning pizza oven.

The interiors still have several original features in the way of tiling and antique furnishings. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, and a second with twin beds convertible into a double bedroom. There is an additional double sofa bed (on request) in the living room. The two bathrooms both have showers; one is situated outside the villa, under the stone arch at the back of the BBQ area, the second bathroom is located just outside the two bedrooms.

Original tiling and cooking utensils have been retained in the high-ceilinged kitchen which also has a gas hob, dining table and chairs, and an attractive dresser.

The area

The villa is set amidst the peaceful countryside of south east Sicily, around 20km from Modica, one of Sicily’s most attractive historic towns and renowned equally for its spectacular Duomo di San Giorgio and its chocolate production.

Ragusa, Scicli and Noto, home to some of the island’s most extraordinary baroque architecture, are also within easy reach. To the north, Palazzolo Acreide has several magnificent baroque churches and an important archaeological area with a Greek theatre. It is also renowned for hosting one of Sicily’s principal carnivals each February. A little further afield but well worth the trip, Syracuse is one of Sicily’s most interesting cities.

There is a good choice of beaches around 30 to 40 minutes away. Choose from the wide sandy beaches at Pozzallo or head to Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata or Sampieri. Calamosche beach on the edge of the Vendicari nature reserve is a good alternative if you prefer a quieter beach without facilities. This south eastern tip of Sicily is also, of course, Montalbano land and fans of the fictional detective will enjoy a visit to his ‘home’ on the beach at Punta Secca and to the film location for the police station at Scicli.

Wish Sicily responds very quickly and efficiently. The owners do everything to make you feel home and are very thoughtful (a welcome hammer and specially for us candlelight, champagne and cake) The house is fully equipped with everything you need. It is quit located and it is a good location to visit different towns nearby. The owners also provides you with tips, like a wine tour, restaurants or where you can find grocery shops.

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Ciaceri whilst visiting Sicily. The house is located in a quiet setting, surrounded by farmland. Alberto and his family were there to greet us when we arrived and immediately made us feel at home. They provided a very generous selection of food and drink for our arrival. We could not believe the size of the house and the grounds, and the fact that we had it all to ourselves! We spent our days either chilling out in the garden, with occasional dips in the pool to cool off, or out exploring the nearby towns of Modica, Ragusa, Syracusa and Noto, all within easy driving distance. In the evening we made ample use of the BBQ, watching the sun go down with a couple of glasses of Aperol! Our holiday was made all the more special with our stay at Casa Ciaceri and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

We had a fabulous holiday at the Casa Ciaceri. The property is superb, beautifully presented and the attention to detail from the owners was 5 star +, with a personal welcome that made us totally feel at home. The accommodation was fantastic, we wanted for nothing during our stay. Alberto and Ernesto were exceedingly helpful and gave us a fantastic welcome. We had a supply of kitchen goods for our arrival ready supplied, which was most welcome and a very thoughtful touch. Prepared for guests by the owners are very helpful ready made tour routes to follow, local restaurant details etc (we can also recommend you try Antico Mulino , where we had a very nice meal - just don't arrive too early seems the locals eat out around 9.00pm) We made full use of the Hot Tub and the outdoor kitchen/ oven and had all our meals in the beautiful private garden surrounding the villa with only the sound of birds singing in the background. We found Cas Ciaceri an excellent base for touring, we visited Siracusa, Taormina, Agrigento Ragusa and all the Inspector Montalbano locations. We hope to come back with our family we enjoyed Casa Ciaceri so much and we can wholeheartedly recommend for couples or family groups. Enjoy.
