Casa Kimiyà This property has been verified by our local team in Sicily Apartments in Sicily in Modica

Description

Situated in the Modica’s historic centre, with panoramic terrace views over the town and the Cathedral of San Giorgio, this art-filled house for four is the perfect base for exploring one of Sicily’s most extraordinary UNESCO towns. Modica’s principal Corso Umberto can be reached on foot (700m) via the narrow streets, stairways and passageways that characterise the town. The Baroque towns of Ragusa, Scicli and Ispica are close by and the sandy beaches of south east Sicily just a short drive away.

Beautifully furnished with the owner, Luca’s, own contemporary art, the house has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, which, when combined with the incredibly attentive service provided by Luca and Amalia, leave you feeling as if you are staying in a friend’s home. Highlights include a balcony and a spacious rooftop terrace, tailor made for chilled evenings watching the sun go down over the rooftops below.

The house is set on two floors, with two lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and a living room with well-equipped kitchen, complete with a selection of local wine and plenty of thoughtful little touches.

The area

The apartment is ideally situated both for trips to the sea and the many splendid beaches along the coast, all within easy driving distance, and to some of Sicily’s most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Baroque towns such as Modica, Scicli, and Ragusa where guests can also shop and find several fine restaurants. Siracusa and its ancient Greek theatre is also within easy driving distance as it is the Vendicari Nature Reserve, a truly paradise for the birdwatching lovers.

The beaches in the area of Pozzallo and Marina di Ragusa have received several consecutive "Bandiere Blu", attesting to the cleanliness of the water and their general ecological excellence. The beach at Marina di Modica is great for surfers and windsurfers and has sun beds and umbrella for rent. There are also several lidos at Sampieri where the beach is slightly wilder and fringed with dunes.

The villa is also located a few miles from the set of the BBC Four’s popular Inspector Montalbano series. A unique chance to experience first-hand the magnificent settings of the most beloved character written by the famous Andrea Camilleri.

We have rented flats and homes in Italy for decades but Casa Kimiyà was by far the best yet. Luca is a warm & gracious host, and Amalia was incredibly helpful in getting us settled and well-oriented to the area. She even took us shopping for groceries upon our arrival! Casa Kimiyà is inspired with Luca's fresh & innovative art that he has crafted (beautiful!), and with his interesting architectural features. The views are wonderful, the beds are cozy, the bathrooms and kitchen are well-equipped, and the balcony & terrace are perfect for lounging, eating, and toasting wine to the surrounding beauty. The strolls through town enable you to capture the essence of this beautiful town, get to all the best restaurants - far too many for you to be able to get to in only one stay! - and meet the locals along the way. You could stay weeks and never really have to leave Modica... and could spend days just settled into Casa Kimiyà, and appreciate the views and comfort - without leaving home. We will return again and again - to soak up the charm & beauty of Modica, and to be comforted & inspired again by Casa Kimiyà. Grazie Tanto, Caro Luca!
