Villa Geranio This property has been verified by our local team in Sicily Villas in Sicily in Acquedolci

Description

CIR: 19083107C213662

With the option of slightly independent living space and two kitchens on two floors, 6-bedroom Villa Geranio is a great holiday villa for two families. Outside, there’s a stunning pool with breath-taking views over rolling hills and the nearby Nebrodi mountains, and a jacuzzi spa area. Just a short drive from the town of Acquedolci and a 5-minute walk from the nearest pizzeria, Villa Geranio is equally well-placed for days on the beach and for exploring the fascinating north east corner of Sicily.

The villa looks out over an attractive garden, set against a backdrop of the surrounding countryside. Keep cool in the beautiful pool (10m x 5m, with steps in one corner), soak up the sun on the poolside decking or retreat to the lawn and the shade of the trees. When you’re feeling energetic, challenge everyone to a poolside volleyball tournament, before relaxing in the jacuzzi spa, in a stone-walled garden outhouse (with shower and sauna), with garden views.

The villa has been cleverly designed with a central portico, accessed directly from the garden, which provides a cool dining area during the hottest summer months. This ‘open room’ leads into the ground floor. On one side there is the kitchen, two double bedrooms (with the option of an additional single bed) and a bathroom with shower. On the other side of the portico, there is a living room (with computer), sofa and American Pool table/billiard.

Access to the first floor is via an external staircase. On this level, a furnished terrace provides superb views across the countryside to the sea, with equally splendid views available from the large living room, with open plan kitchen. There are four double bedrooms on this floor, each with an en-suite shower, and a separate toilet with washing machine.

The area

Situated on the north coast of Sicily, between Cefalù and Capo d’Orlando, the villa is around 3 km from the shops and restaurants at Acquedolci, and the beach. There is also a restaurant pizzeria at 5 min walk.

Close by, the Nebrodi Mountains provide some of Sicily’s most spectacular landscapes, popular with hikers and foodies (salami, cheese) but also very appealing if you enjoy exploring out-of-the-way villages. San Marco d’Alunzio and San Fratello are well worth visiting – San Fratello has a pretty 11th century Norman church, with cloisters.

Other local towns include Santo Stefano di Camastra, renowned for its colourful ceramics, and Tindari, the site of a former Greek-Roman settlement and the Santuario di Tindari, built to house the much-revered Black Madonna. To the west of Acquedolci, the seaside resort of Cefalù offers an appealing mix of sandy beaches, a UNESCO world heritage site (Norman cathedral) and an attractive historic centre.

For a full day out, boat trips and snorkelling excursions depart from nearby Milazzo to the volcanic Aeolian Islands.

Such a beautiful place, with stunning views and sunsets! We had a lovely time at Villa Geranio, with its comfortable bedrooms, aircon, shady spots and fabulous pool. The pool room was a hit with our 2 families, as was the jacuzzi! Our hosts, Nino and Valeria were wonderful. They were so attentive, helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Nino even helped us out with a rental car problem - just amazing - thank you to both.

A big thank you to Valeria and Nino for being the perfect hosts. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Villa Geranio is beautiful and has loads of amenities to entertain all the family. The surrounding views are out of this world. We will definitely be back.

Really nice location with plenty of cute towns to visit nearby. Gorgeous views from every window. Hot tub was a family favorite. Lots of space on the property to explore with fresh fruit trees; you were able to pick lemons and oranges. Pool room was used by the whole family. Nearby towns are nice to explore with plenty of local culture and food to enjoy.

Siamo stati in questa splendida villa ad agosto con la nostra bimba e alcuni amici. Il luogo è rilassante, la vista mozzafiato e la villa è molto bella e accessoriata. Il proprietario è stato gentilissimo e disponibile in ogni momento. Assolutamente consigliato!

This really is an exceptional property in the most outstandingly picturesque Sicilian countryside. Lovingly built by the Villa's owners Nino and Father In Law Pino, the villa has stunning views best experienced from around the beautiful pool, upstairs picture window or terrace where the sunsets create a stunning backdrop over the sea. We were an extended family group aged from 9 -79 and there was more than enough room for all of us to have our own space, bathrooms, kitchen areas and dining spaces. The photos really don't do justice to this spotless, contemporary and individual villa perched just above the town of Acquadolci which is a quiet, fairly nondescript community with a fairly stony beach and not a lot to offer by way of dining out however it does have a well stocked supermarket for fresh bread and necessities just a short drive from the villa. A charming, friendly pizzeria is just a 5 minute stroll down the track from the villa which serves simple but delicious pizzas and pasta. With everything provided including all towels, kitchen supplies and even pool inflatables, gym equipment and 2 adult bikes, the villa is perfectly suited to a large group. Security is second to none with an electric gate, car parking plus solid, lockable doors and modern alarm system. Surrounded by fruit and olive trees you can feel completely at peace here - with only the cicadas for company during the day. A warning however - do bring mosquito spray with you as the area is rife with them in the evenings. What sets this property apart from others we have stayed in across Europe is the attentiveness and kindness of the owners. Nino and his wife own a restaurant and B&B in town and are only a text or call away if there are any problems. We were even lucky enough to experience his Father in Law's delicious home made wine during our stay. They are completely unobtrusive and generally leave you to your own devices but with a couple of new-build-related house issues arising during our holiday they were there instantly and sorted out everything quickly so it didn't impact on our stay. A couple of tips for visitors to the house: there is a recycling plant down the road in Acquedolci that takes all the rubbish should you need to de-clutter at any point; do visit Cefalu 50 minutes from the villa as it's a gorgeous medieval town with busy but family-friendly beach and shops plus some fantastic, budget friendly places to eat; enjoy a coffee and browse around the hand made pottery shops in quaint and charming Santo Stefano di Camastra 20 minutes away or brave the crowds during the Summer holidays at Acqua Verde water park just outside Cefalu - be prepared to queue for the slides, park on the road up to a mile walk away (unless you arrive early and make a day of it!!) but lovely food, well organised and beautifully clean. We just wish we had more time to visit everywhere - 12 days wasn't enough! You'll definitely need a car to experience the area but we were happy just lounging around the pool for hours in the glorious Sicilian sunshine. Thank you to Nino and Pino for their help, support and kindness throughout our stay in this fabulous villa.
