Situated just moments from the crystal clear waters that lap the shoreline around Cava d’Aliga, it’s easy to while away the hours on the terrace watching the ocean, but close by, there are plenty of lovely beaches. Shopping and sightseeing is also convenient - you can stroll down to a selection of pizzerias and restaurants in Cava d’Aliga or pop into Scicli, just 15 minutes by car, or to one of the other baroque towns for which the area is renowned.
Although the property is small, it’s set in a large open space that offers mesmerising views across the ocean. Enjoy the luxury of several lawns and terraces, furnished with sunbeds, parasols, and a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There’s also a barbecue and an outdoor kitchen area, with a small sink and induction hob and, for that extra touch of indulgence, a hot tub with jacuzzi jets where you can lie back and watch the sun sink below the horizon.
Suitable for a couple or family with young children, the studio-style cottage is air conditioned and features one main bedroom, with a double sofa bed and a table for four. An ensuite contemporary bathroom and modern well equipped kitchen, with fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and countertop oven, provide everything you need for everyday living. There’s also a washing machine and iron.

The area
Scicli’s main beach resort, Cava d’Aliga, is made up of a mix of golden sandy beaches and craggy reefs leading to amazingly clear water. You’ll find some exceptional beaches all along the coast, from Punta Secca, Marina di Ragusa and Donnalucata to the west of Cava d’Aliga to Sampieri and Santa Maria del Focallo to the east. The most southeasterly tip of Sicily, around Portopalo di Capo Passero, also features some wonderfully unspoilt beaches. Not surprisingly, water activities are popular, with sea kayaking, snorkelling and diving all available locally.
Although pleasantly secluded, the cottage is within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Cava d’Aliga has a couple of restaurants and bars and Scicli is a short drive away if you want more choice.
The cottage is also in a prime spot for exploring further afield. Visit the baroque towns of Modica and Ragusa, head across to Syracuse on the east coast or delve deeper inland where Palazzolo Acreide features some enchanting baroque architecture.
