Sicily villas and holiday lettings for opera, drama, film and dance
Whilst several of Sicily’s leading drama and music events are seasonal, taking place in open air amphitheatres during the warm summer months, there is also a good choice of year-round performances for dance, music and opera aficionados.
Greek drama in Syracuse
Possibly Sicily’s best-known cultural event, the ancient Greek theatre festival takes place in Syracuse’s amphitheatre during May and June. The classical Greek and Roman plays are usually performed in Italian.
Taormina
Whilst Taormina is most closely associated with its June Film Festival, an annual series of concerts and opera performances at its spectacular Greek-Roman amphitheatre are also well worth a visit, not least for the magnificent views over Mount Etna and the Bay of Naxos.
Opera and dance in Palermo
For those visiting in Spring or autumn, a visit to Palermo’s Teatro Massimo for an opera, ballet or concert is a great experience. Guided tours of the stunning auditorium, including a backstage tour and visit to the roof terrace, can be pre-booked.
