Travel Pulse checks out the Infiorata di Noto
As winter draws to a close, the prospect of spring blossom and vivid splashes of fragrant blooms draws tantalisingly close. And as nothing marks the advent of spring quite like a carefully curated list of flower festivals, Travel Pulse has turned its thoughts to destinations around the world that are famous for their blooms, including our very own Infiorata di Noto.
Noto’s annual flower festival is traditionally held on the third weekend of May, transforming parts of the town into a riot of colour, accompanied by concerts and a parade. But the focal point of the event is the fabulous floral mosaic which restyles the Via Corrado Nicolaci into a carpet of petals, perfectly arranged into displays crafted by local artists. Away from the floral artwork, there are baroque palazzi and churches to explore in the striking UNESCO-designated town.
Travel Pulse recommends taking a day trip to the festival in you’re in the area or checking out one of our villas in and around Noto if you’re planning a longer stay. Seafront villas such as Maravigghia, Villa Renata and Oasivera are all perfectly placed for visits to Noto.
Other flower power destinations recommended by Travel Pulse include Japan, Holland, Italy’s South Tyrol and Bhutan.
