If you are interested in water-based adventure activities, snorkelling, scuba, sea kayaking and body rafting are just a small selection of the many water sports on offer in the crystal clear waters that surround Sicily. For something a little more laidback, a sailing excursion or boat trip is a relaxing way to explore the island’s coast.
Our water-based activities range from half-day snorkelling expeditions to some spectacular diving opportunities around the Aegadian islands, at Cala Bernardo in the south east or close to Trapani in the west. Sicily offers some great locations for kite and wind-surfing, with private lessons available close to Marsala and Ragusa. For the more adventurous, wakeboarding and acqua-scooters can be organised at several destinations or, for the ultimate adrenaline shot, a one-hour fly-boarding experience in Taormina.
The Alcantara gorge, near to Taormina, is the base for several entertaining activities that are suitable for all the family. Try body-rafting (minimum age 12) or river trekking down the Alcantara river. Or, if you are staying in the north east, there is the option of sea-kayaking to the Isola delle Femmine near Palermo.
Half and full-day mini-cruises for all the family to the Aegadian or Aeolian Islands, with a fabulous lunch on board, means that you can lie back and enjoy the view or perhaps try a little snorkelling. In the east of island, there is the option of a private cruise around the bays and inlets around Taormina or a sailing trip along the Riviera dei Ciclopi.
