A big thank you to the Times Scotland correspondent, Kenny Farquharson, for the lowdown on his stay at Casa a Ortigia in Syracuse<\/a>. The city is easily accessible to Scottish holidaymakers (Edinburgh to Catania on Easyjet) and ideal for either a weekend or longer stay.<\/p>\n

In fact, with so much to see in the city, you\u2019ll be hard pushed to squeeze everything into a fleeting weekend. Visiting Syracuse\u2019s ancient Greek amphitheatre is a must, but the city\u2019s historic centre on the island of Ortigia is the magnet for most holidaymakers. Stroll through the narrow, winding streets to soak up the atmosphere, but find time also to stop by the Temple of Apollo, the Fountain of Arethusa, and, in the main piazza, the Duomo and Chiesa di Santa Lucia alla Badia.<\/p>\n

Casa a Ortigia is a 2-bedroom apartment with a rooftop terrace, situated on Ortigia\u2019s waterfront. Just across the road from the apartment, a public sunbathing platform has direct sea access.<\/p>\n
