For this reason, it has been called <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><b>the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><b>Stromboli Volcano Facts<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">Activity of the volcano has been recorded for over 1000 years. In the last 100 years, more violent explosions have occurred three times. The last one happened in 2003 and destroyed villages, taking the lives of locals. After the incident, the volcano was closed to tourists and re-opened in 2005. Despite the rarity of such explosions, tourists visit Stromboli at their own risk and are by law allowed to stay no longer than an hour.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><b>How to Get to Stromboli<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">Due to the size of the small island of Stromboli, Italy, the only transportation possible is either by small <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><b>motorcycles or boat<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">.
