Villa Arte Mare Blue This property has been verified by our local team in Sicily Villas in Sicily in Cefalu

Description

CIR: 19082027C224411

Quirky and contemporary, Villa Arte Mare Blue sits amongst glorious Sicilian countryside, just a short drive from the long sandy beaches of Cefalù and the north coast.

Children (and adults!) will love the fun vintage art works, scattered throughout the property and its grounds. A Spiderman figure clambers up the villa’s traditional exterior, eclectic art in the form of lamp stands, free-standing statues and a juke box grace the living areas and an extraordinary collection of art and animal sculpture is dotted around the gardens.

Aside from the eccentricity, the villa is a classic Sicilian treasure. Set in secluded mature gardens, the villa is surrounded on all sides by broad terraces, one with a covered outside kitchen with dining area, extensible dining table and wood-burning pizza oven. The stone-walled pool area is blissfully secluded, set amidst leafy trees and foliage and with sea views.

Inside the villa, the ground floor is open plan, with a kitchen and dining area with extensible dining table, lounge with fireplace, and a small guest bathroom. Floor to ceiling glass doors lead directly out on to the terrace and two large picture windows look out towards the sea. There are four bedrooms in the main villa: a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a fabulous bath for two, and a twin bedroom, with a bathroom with shower. On a lower level there is another twin bedroom, a bathroom with shower, and a large double bedroom with double entrance from the outside and directly into the billiard room - not surprisingly, a favourite with teenagers! The fifth bedroom (with double bed) is in an external dependence (the so-called Shark House), with en-suite bathroom with shower, and it's available on request at extra cost.

NB the previous double sofa bed in the guest house has been replaced with a regular double bed. Please be aware that there is no wifi on the lower level of the villa.

The area

Nestled within the Madonie mountains, on a charming hill with panoramic views over the sea, Villa Arte Mare e Blue is an ideal base for exploring the mountainous nature reserve, on foot or by car, and its many towns and characteristic sicilian villages.

Just 10 minute drive down the hill there is the popular fishing village of Cefalù, with its spectacularly sited Norman cathedral, medieval town centre and sandy beach. Cefalù also offers a good and varied selection of restaurants and bars. Banks, shops and supermarkets can be found in town.

The motorway gives to guests easy access to Palermo, the lovely village of Monreale and the Greek remains at Himera. Slightly further afield, the Ancient Greek remains at Segesta. On the opposite side Tindari and the Nebrodi mountains are well worth the journey.

Excellent travel company. Easy to arrange booking and good service at the villa. A delightful villa. Very well appointed with lots of space and fine gardens. Quirky and artistic touches with huge library of art related books.

Amazing villa in beautiful setting! We loved the house and the swimming pool. Everything was so well thought-out! With 6 adults we enjoyed every moment at this little paradise. The views are stunning and the gardens are wonderful. You hardly want to leave to go sight-seeing. We would love to return one day!

Villa Arte mare Blue is set in an amazing location which is so peaceful and tranquil. It is beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you need. The owners were very friendly and accommodating even offering us fresh swordfish from their friends fishing boat one day. The pool was stunning and pool facilities were superb. Great pool towels outdoor shower and bathroom facilities. We loved the proximity to Cefalu, Castelbuono and San Ambrogio where we found great restaurants particularly the lovely al fresco dining overlooking the sea in San Ambrogio great food and service. The proximity to the beaches along that stretch of coast was fantastic early morning was the best time as parking was easy and the beaches were quiet the water was so clear and great for swimming. The villa was very well equipped and we loved the outdoor kitchen for family dinners and evening get together. The villa had lots of outdoor settings and areas you could relax in like the front terrace with the beautiful sea views and the hammock area with views and each bedroom had a balcony or terrace with outdoor settings to relax in. There was always a feeling of space and privacy but you could also be altogether in the communal spaces by the pool or the outdoor kitchen dining. It was easy to create this balance for a harmonious holiday with 3 families. We would highly recommend the villa to anyone planning a combined family holiday. The only glitch was the patchy wifi which one of our party needed to use on a daily basis but the owners were trying to fix the problem during our stay. Just remembered the outdoor art works were a great source of interest to our 2 year old nephew who enjoyed his art walks around the property. For parents with toddlers there are a few staircases and steps in and around the villa to negotiate. We would love to return to Villa Arte Mare Blue again one day and have lovely memories of our wonderful Sicilian holiday.

Giacchino was very quick to reply to any of my inquiries prior to booking. And he was a lifesaver in helping us find great sitters for the 3 and 1/2 year old who made the trip wonderful for his parents, grandparents, aunt and cousins. I originally thought he could just give us a map of how to get from Palermo airport to the Villa, but after arriving at the meet up place we realised you absolutely needed to be guided personally to find this property. Our family of 10 had a fantastic week in July at the Villa Arte Mare Blu!!! We were 10== 5 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 3 and 1/2 to 12! The views from every corner of the Villa itself and the interesting grounds were spectacular. The town of Cefalu provided a great (busy) beach, good restaurants, fun shopping.. The owners of the Villa personally showed us how to get the English speaking cable news channels on the TV in our bedroom so we could watch the US national convention even tho it was in the middle of the night! The pool is incredible, there are donkeys on an adjacent property who come when you bray. The bedroom in the little cabin on the grounds where two of our adults slept on a sleeper sofa worked well to accommodate our numbers, but the couple who slept there wished it had been a regular bed rather than a sleeper couch. The outside oven was used twice once to make great pizza and once to barbecue lamb and pork ribs and beef steaks. Great! I did not, but a few of us did go to the beach nearest the Villa. They said it was far less crowded but a little difficult to park your car and get to. Because the area is mountainous, driving up the narrow roads is challenging but becomes easier the more you do it. There are really no walking paths in the immediate areas, one would need to share the road with the occasional car. Sant' Ambrogio is a lovely little mountain town about 5-10 minutes away and Castlebuono provides several good restaurants and a lovely scenic 40 minute drive to get to. The owners helped find us two sisters who provided us with Nanny care for the 3 and 1/2 year old. They came along to the beach, or they took him to play with their nephew of the same age, or they were willing to stay later so the rest of us could enjoy dinner in a restaurant. Both Debra (in her 30's) and Jessica (in her 20's) were sweet and loving. What a fantastic trip to beautiful Sicily, what a beautiful Villa, what beautiful people!!

Noi ci siamo stati a luglio e ci siamo trovati molto bene.
